Title: Microwave assisted facile synthesis of amino pyrimidines bearing benzofuran and investigation of their antimicrobial activity

Abstract: 2-acetylbenzofuran on treatment with substituted aldehydes under solvent free microwave irradiation affords the corresponding chalcones 2a-e. The compounds 2a-e on reaction with guanidine hydrochloride under microwave irradiation produce 3a-e. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds have been established by elemental analysis and spectral data. The compounds 3a-e have been evaluated for their antimicrobial activity.
