Abstract: Azomethines 1a-m react with ammonium thiocyanate/acetic acid to give the corresponding N-substituted--aminoiso­thio­cyanates 2a-m which are found to be excellent starting materials for the synthesis of hexahydro-1,3,5-triazines 3a-m. Compounds 2a-m on treatment with toluene-2,4-diisocyanate give the corresponding hexahydro-1,3,5-triazines 3a-m in good yields.
