Abstract: The synthesis and characterization of a novel class of benzofuran-isoxazole 7a-j hybrid heterocyclic unit are described and their antimicrobial activities evaluated. The antimicrobial investigation studies reveal that the majority of the final target compounds exhibit moderate to excellent activity against tested microbes. Among the compounds screened 7b, 7a and 7i have shown potent activity and compounds 7h, 7c, 7f show good activity compared to standard drugs Gentamicin and Nystatin.
