Abstract: A total of six compounds isolated from the ethanol extract of the roots of <i style="">Achyranthes aspera</i> Linn. (Amaranthaceae) are characterised as strigmasta-5, 22-dien-3-β-ol, <i style="">trans</i>-13-docasenoic acid, <i style="">n</i>-hexacosanyl <i style="">n</i>-decaniate, <i style="">n</i>-hexacos-17-enoic acid and <i style="">n</i>-hexacos-11-enoic acid on basis of spectral data and chemical means, including a new aliphatic acid, <i style="">n</i>-hexacos-14-enoic acid which is being reported for the first time from natural and synthetic source<i style="">.</i>
