Abstract: | Tasar and muga silk yarns have been dried at 80ºC, 100ºC and 140ºC and the effect of temperature on tensile and structural properties is investigated. No significant effect of drying on tenacity of tasar and muga silk yarn is observed. However, elongation decreases with drying due to increase in moisture loss with temperature. Crystallinity has no effect even when dried up to 140˚C. Scanning electron micrograph study reveals that there is no significant change in surface structure with different temperature of drying. |
