Abstract: | Exhausted sandalwood powder and sandal sapwood powder on treatment with 25 % HCl followed by steam distillation yielded essential oils, AESP (0.6 %) (acidified exhausted sandal powder) and SWA (0.9 %) (sapwood acidified). Both oils had almond like note and were strong, heavy and were different in characteristics and composition from those of natural sandal wood oil. |
