Abstract: Copper sulphate has been found to be an effective catalyst in water-ethanol solvent system for the synthesis of various tetra-substituted pyridine derivatives via Michael addition of -dicarbonyl compounds to ,-unsaturated oximes and subsequent ring closure. A rapid synthesis of heterocycles by this methodology is ecofriendly in nature in addition to remarkably improved yield and reduced reaction times.
