Abstract: Biochemical parameters (effect of alkali of different concentration, substrate concentration, nitrogen sources, effect of Ca<sup>++</sup>, effect of amino acid) were evaluated to optimize cellulase production by <i style="">Aspergillus terreus</i> on groundnut shell. 1<i style="">N</i> NaOH, 5% substrate concentration, 2 m<i style="">M</i> calcium concentration were optimum for cellulase production. Metheonine, asparagine and tryptophan were found to be stimulatory for cellulase activity.
