In the present work the natural madder dye (Rubia Cordifolia) and Kattha (Acacia catechu) was applied on the regenerated cellulosic fabric-Lyocell through hand screen printing method. In the first part of the study printing paste was developed, using various ratios of guar gum and chitosan for printing with Madder and Kattha. The printed fabric was then characterized with respect to colourfastness and antimicrobial activity against S. aureus and E. coli. For durability tests, both the dyes showed a moderate to good light fastness and fastness to perspiration and good to excellent fastness to washing.en_US
