Abstract: The present study was about the analysis of rainfall data and estimation of evapo-transpiration values for the predominant crops in Pollachi watershed area. The average monthly rainfall data for the period of 10 years (2004-2013) of Pollachi region of Coimbatore district inferred that the 46% of rainfall is received during south-west monsoon and 34% of rainfall is received from north-east monsoon seasons. From the comparative study of evapo-transpiration, it is observed that the value found out by the Penman method is low and the value obtained by the Hargreaves class A pan evaporation method is high. From the study, it is suggested that Penman method is most suitable for evapo-transpiration estimation.
