|Abstract:||Two series of complexes of the type [ML2Cl2]Cl2 and [ML4Cl2]Cl4 (where M=Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), CU(II) and L= cytosinium ion) have been prepared and characterised by elemental analyses, thermogravimetric studies, magnetic moment measurements, electronic and infrared spectral studies.The electronic spectra and magnetic moment values of the complexes of the type [ML2Cl2]Cl2 indicate that Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) complexes possess tetrahedral structure whereas CU(II) complex is square planar; complexes of the type [ML4Cl2]Cl4 have the octahedral geometry. Infrared spectral studies indicate that in all the complexes cytosinium ion acts as a monodentate ligand coordinating through oxo oxygen.|
