|Abstract:||The density (d) and sound velocity (u) data have been obtained for binary system of n-heptane-methanol in the concentration range of 0.1 to 0.7 m of n-heptane at 25°C.Similar data have also been obtained for ternary system 3 m urea-methanol-n-heptane. Adiabatic compressibility (βad) apparent molal volume (ϕV) and apparent molal compressibility (ϕĸ) of n-heptane at different concentrations have been calculated. The results of ϕ and ϕ and their concentration dependence and the corresponding transfer functions (ϕ and ϕ) for n-heptane are explained on the basis of formation of urea-channel adducts with heptane in solution. The structural interaction in solutions seems to be accompanied by large decrease in partial volume and compressibility of n-heptane in methanolic urea solutions.|
