Abstract: Monomeric, soluble bimetallic hexaisopropoxy-niobate and -tantalate of iron(II), [Fe{M(OPri)6}2] (M = Nb, Ta), have been synthesized in quantitative yields by the reaction of anhydrous FeCl2 with K{M(OPri)6} in 1:2 molar ratio in benzene/isopropanol medium. Alcoholysis of these bimetallic isopropoxides with a variety of alcohols has been studied. All the derivatives have been characterized by elemental and group analyses, and infrared, electronic, magnetic and molecular weight data.
