Title: Mechanism of electroreduction of oxygen on thin Co3O4 and NiCo2O4 films

Abstract: Oxygen reduction on thin sprayed Co3O4 and NiCo2O4 films on titanium support has been studied in alkaline medium. Tafel plots on both the oxides indicated two slopes which were approximately - 40 and - 120 mV respectively in the low and high current density regions. The reaction order in [OH-] is nearly unity and zero at low and high current densities, respectively. The reaction follows first order kinetics with respect to the partial pressure of oxygen. Based on results a common mechanism for oxygen reduction at both the oxide electrodes is suggested.
