Abstract: Apparent molal volumes, apparent molal adiabatic compressibilities and solvation numbers of glycine, -alanine and -ɑ-amino-n-buryric acid have been determined at 298.15 K in aqueous solutions containing upto 50% (by wt) of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and glycerol and also in aqueous dimethyl sulphoxide. The volumes and compressibilities of transfer and the solvation numbers at various compositions of the mixtures have also been obtained and interpreted in terms of the nature of the given binary systems and the hydration of amino acids.
