Abstract: ThX4.nH2O interacts with polydentate schiff bases (H2L=H2DMED, H2DMDT, H2DMTT) in EtOH to form binuclear Th(IV) complexes of the type [{ThX2(H2O)3}2  (μ – OH)2 (μ - L)] where the coordination number around each Th(IV) is either 9 (for X = L NCS) or 11 (for X = NO3). The two Th atoms are joined by a double-hydroxo bridge and the ligands act essentially as bridging tetradentate ligands.
