Abstract: A pH-metric study of the mixed ligand complex formation of Cu2+ ion with 6-aminopenicillanic acid (apaH) an bipyridine/glycine/adenine (L) has been carried out at 37°C in aqueous solution (1=0.1M NaNO3). The result show the evidence of formation of ternary complexes of the type Cu(apa)(L), in addition to the binary complexes Cu(apa)(L) and Cu(L). Quaternary hydroxo complexes, Cu(apa)(L)(OH)2 and Cu(apa)(L)(OH)2 have been iden ified at pH > 7. Complexation equilibria are evaluated with the aid of the computer programme, SCOGS, and correlated with the modes of bonding of the ligand.
