Abstract: Thiocyanate and peroxomonophosphoric acid (pmpa) react to give H3PO4 and HCN in the pH range 3,67 to 10,6, Kinetics of the reaction has been studied in acid perchlorate, acetate, phosphate and borate buffer media. The different rate laws have been deduced and suitable mechanism proposed.
