Abstract: The compounds (PriO)], (PriO)CH2Cl], MCH2O]2 and M{CH2CL2]} have been prepared by the reactions of antimony(III) isopropoxide with 1-chloro-2, 3-propanediol or 1,4-dichloro-2,3-butanediol in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios in benzene. Reactions of the H{]2 } and H{CH2Cl]2} with MOCH3 (M = Li, Na or K) in 1:1 molar ratio in methanol yield bimetallic products of the type M{CH2O]2} and M{CH2Cl]2} (M = Li, Na or K). These derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR and 1H NMR data, molecular weights and molar conductivities.
