|Abstract:||A new series of substituted sulfonyloxopyridine conjugates are reported for first time. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the synthesized compounds have been evaluated against known bacterial strains. The obtained data indicated that in particular, compound 7a, i.e. N-(4-(3-(morpholin-2-oxo-5,6-dihydropyridin-1(2H)-yl]phenyl)benzenesulfonamide exhibited activity comparable to the well known antibacterial agents. The previously reported expensive and delicate processes for synthesis of 1-(4-nitrophenyl)piperidine-2-one 3 have also been replaced with novel and efficient processes via lactam ring activation.|
