Abstract: An efficient and convenient method for the synthesis of 1-(5-aryl-[1,3,4]-oxadiazol-2-ylmethyl)-3-(3-trifluromethyl­phenyl)-1H-[1,8]-naphthyridin-2-ones 5, by the oxidation of [2-oxo-3-(3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-2H-[1,8]naphthyridin-1-yl]acetic acid arylidenehydrazides 4 with iodobenzene diacetate [PhI(OAc)2] under microwave irradiation in solvent-free conditions, is described. The products are obtained in good yields and in a state of high purity. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been established on the basis of spectral and analytical data.
