Title: A surrounding rock stress distribution model for deep mining

Abstract: A methodology was adopted to analyse the stresses around the crack in infinite plate to monitor surrounding rock stresses and establish a function for the stress distribution of surrounding rock at working face. Verification calculation shows that the calculation results are in good agreement with the measured results and the function is reliable. Image obtained upon function calculation shows the stress variation law. Results of stress measurement and calculation show obvious deviations, indicating that the geological structure changes in front of the work. Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion for rock was chosen for the failure distance in front of the working face, and the maximal failure distance of the rock in front of the working face was calculated through an algorithm. Calculation results show that the failure distance is inversely proportional to the friction angle of the surrounding rock, under certain conditions.
