Abstract: The formation consists of marl with intercalation of limy marl with two formal members of Lopha and Emam-Hasan. Seymareh Member is made up of Limestone and Emam-Hasan Member is of marl and limestone. Eight bio stratigraphical zones were defined as a result of summarizing of the available data on the taxonomy, stratigraphical range and occurrence of the Gurpi Formation. A depth of over 500 -650 m was assigned for most parts of the formation according to planktonic/planktonic+morphotype3 ratio and the regression equation (D = e (3.58718 + (0.03534 × %P)). Study of depth indices benthic in foraminifera also confirms the depth gained by the regression equation. Relative sea-level curve resulted from this study is well in accordance with the existing eustasy curves indicating the great effect of eustasy on relative sea-level changes against the other factors.
