Abstract: LasB protease, also known as the elastase enzyme was purified from an environmental isolate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa MCCB 123. The enzyme production was optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) which yielded 24754.17 U/mL protease activity and 654.14 U/ml elastase activity. The yields were 1.83 fold and 2.39 fold higher for protease and elastase activities, respectively. Scale up study of enzyme production was carried in a 5 L bioreactor. Bioprocess technology for enzyme production was successfully developed.
