Abstract: The ejector pump is the noiseless operating and the simplest of all pumping devices with no moving parts involved. Ejector pumps are used in many pumping applications owing to their low first cost, simplicity in operation and the ability to mix fluids thoroughly. Though the ejector pump has advantages, more efforts need to be done to improve the efficiency. In the present study, an experimental test rig is set up for a single-phase (incompressible fluid) ejector pump. A CFD simulation model has been developed on ANSYS-FLUENT platform for the ejector pump and results are validated with the established test rig data. Further, the validated CFD model is applied for geometry optimization studies to maximize the efficiency. Critical parameters affecting the efficiency are identified and reported.
