Abstract: A few complexes of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) of the type ML2 with two new heterocyclic ligands viz. tetrahydroquinoline and isoquinoline dithiocarbamates have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, UV-VIS, 1HNMR spectra, X-ray powder diffraction and TG-DTA studies. The infrared and 1HNMR data have shown that the ligands behave as isobidentate ones. The electronic spectra show that mostly ligand centered charge transfer transitions occur. In thermal studies, interesting fragmentation patterns are reported and kinetic parameters such as order of the thermal reactions (n) and activation energy (Ea) have also been evaluated.
