Abstract: A polystyrene-anchored ON donor bidentate ligand (PS-LH) has been synthesized by the reaction of chloromethylated polystyrene and the schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde and anthranilic acid. Several new polystyrene supported metal complexes of the formulae: [PS-LFeCl2.2 DMF], [PS-LCo(OOCCH3).DMF], [PS-LNi(OOCCH3).3DMF], [PS-LCu(OOCCH3).DMF], [PS-LCu(CH3COCHCOCH3)], [PS-LZnCl.DMF], [PS-LCdCl.DMF], [PS-MoO2(CH3COCHCOCH3)] and [PS-LUO2(OOCCH3).DMF] have been synthesized. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Fe(III) complexes are paramagnetic while the Zn(II), Cd(II), Mo(VI) and U(VI) complexes are diamagnetic. Stereochemistry of these complexes has been discussed.
