Abstract: Several novel molecular addition complexes of organotin(IV) chlorides with the schiff bases, HNMSMSaD, HNMSMVD and HNMSMND in 1:1 (tin: ligand) ratio have been prepared and characterized. The IR and 1H, and 13C NMR spectral studies of these complexes reveal that the coordination of the schiff base occurs through the hydrogen bonded phenolic oxygen without rupturing the hydrogen bonded ring. The complexes are assigned a trigonal-bipyramidal geometry with alkyl/aryl and chlorine groups in equatorial position and alkyl/aryl and schiff base groups in axial positions.
