|Abstract:||A dinuclear Cu(l) complex of the composition [Cu2(PXBDPA)Cl2] (where PXBDPA = ɑ, ɑ’-bis(bis(2-(diphenylphosphino)ethyl)amino)-p-xylene) has been synthesized by the reaction of Cu(PPh3)3Cl with the ligand PXBDPA. The complex has been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, 1H, 13C and 31PNMR spectral data. The molecular geometry of the complex has been established by single crystal X-ray diffraction method which shows that the structure of the complex contains a centre of symmetry which is located at the centre of the p-xylyl ring so that the molecule is divided into two identical halves. The Cu(I) atom shows a trigonal planar geometry with ligation to two phosphorus atoms of the ligand and a chloride ion.|
