| Abstract: | Significant wave period is redefined and a modified Erlang distribution model is suggested for the redefined significant wave periods by the method of characteristic function. Various prediction formulae have also been derived from this model for the redefined significant wave period statistics and compared with actual values indicating that the estimated values have acceptable accuracy. |
