Abstract: Kinetics of substitution of aqua ligands from hexaaquochromium(III) ion by pyridine-2-aldoxime in aqueous medium has been studied spectrophotometrically. The reaction rate is pH dependent in the pH range 2.0- 5.0. Activation parameters have been calculated and compared with those for the water exchange reaction and other substitution reactions of hexaaquochromium(III) ion. A mechanism involving conversion of the outer sphere complex into the product by associative path has been suggested.
