|Abstract:||Mixed metal complexes of the types [Ni4MoO2L8(H2O)n] (n= 2 or 4) (1, 2), [Ag2MoO2L3(H2O)2] (3, 4, 5) and MoVO4L2 (6,7,8) (L= diethyldithiocarbanmte, 4-morpholinyldithiocarbamate or 1-piperidinyldithiocarbamate) have been prepared. Single TLC spots obtained for the complexes indicate their purity as well as their discrete nature. Thermal decomposition studies confirm the presence of coordinated water molecules in complexes 1-5. The magnetic moment, EPR and electronic spectral data indicate a tetrahedral geometry around nickel(ll) and presence of molybdenum(V) in 3-8. IR spectral data show presence of bridging bidentate dithiocarbamates and presence of Ni-O-Mo (720 cm-1) moiety in 1-2, cis-MoO2 (930, 900 cm-1) moiety in 3-5 and MoO (930 cm-1) and VO (870 cm-1) groups in 6-8.|
