Abstract: The trans-bis(imidazole)Co(DMGH) binds iron(III) reversibly through the oxime chelate ring. At 25°C (I=0.6 mol dm-3) the equilibrium constant (K)of the reaction (imH)2Co(DMGH) + Fe3+ (imH)2Co(DMG2HFe)3+ H+, is 1.20±0.15. The rate and activation parameters for the formation and dissociation of the Fe(lll) adduct, which occur via the reaction, (imH)2 Co(DMGH) +FeOH2+ (imH)2Co(DMG2HFe)3+ are reported.
