|Abstract:||Trichloro-niobium(V) and -tantalum(V) bis-dialkyl dithiophosphates, Cl3M[S2P(OR)2/2 (where M =Nb or Ta; R =Prn, Pri, Bui & Ph) have been synthesized by stoichiometric reactions of the metal(V) chlorides with sodium/ammonium salts of dialkyl dithiophosphoric acids. The complexes are orange/yellow viscous liquids, soluble in polar organic solvents. These have been characterized by elemental analysis and spectral studies such as IR and NMR (1H, 13C & 31P). A seven- coordinated structure has been suggested for these compounds.|
