|Abstract:||Conjugates of hydrogenated cardanol (H-cardanol; a fine chemical derived from cashew nut shell liquid) and common hexoses like fructose and galactose have been synthesized by applying azide alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction for 1,4-disubstituted triazole linker generation. The resulting conjugates namely, fructose-1,2,3-triazole-H-cardanol (FTHCC) and galactose-1,2,3-triazole-H-cardanol (GaTHCC) have hydrophilic monosaccharide head and hydrophobic 15C hydrocarbon tail which make them amphiphilic. Attempted synthesis of mannose-triazole-H-cardanol conjugate (MTHCC) results in glycoside hydrolysed product. Both FTHCC and GaTHCC display aggregation behaviour in chloroform and water-methanol but do not form a gel.|
