Abstract: Base catalysed iodination of p-hydroxyacetophenone by molecular iodine has been examined in varying compositions of methanol-water mixture at different acidic pH maintained by acetic acid and sodium acetate buffer within a temperature range of 30 to 40°C in the presence of an anionic surfactant, sodium lauryl sulphate (NaLS) of different concentrations. The thermodynamic quantities have been evaluated and discussed.
