|Abstract:||A number of mixed ligand complexes of cobalt(II) and nickel(Il) containing trans--dieneand some organic monobasic acids of composition, [M((L')2L"][M = cobalt(II) and nickel(II), L' = acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid and benzoic acid and L" = trans- -diene] have been isolated and characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity and magnetic measurements, IR and electronic spectral studies. The molar conductance values reveal that the complexes are 2:1 electrolytes in DMF. The magnetic data, IR and electronic spectra of the complexes are consistent with the high spin six-coordinated octahedral geometry for cobalt(II) complexes and tetragonal geometry for nickel(II) complexes of D4h symmetry.|
