Abstract: A novel organotellurium ligand, 2-(2-pyridoethyltelluro) ethylpyridine (L) and its complexes with palladium(II) and platinum(II) of the type [MCl(L)]Cl(where M = Pd, Pt) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance and molecular weight measurements, IR and multinuclear NMR data. The complexes have square planar geometry around the metal(Pd or Pt) with the (N, Te, N) ligand coordinated in a tridentate mode.
