dc.description.abstractThe extraction of molybdenum(VI) from aqueous HCI media with 5% (v/v) MTOAC, 5% (v/v) Alamine 310,5% (v/v) TBP and 0.1 M DPSO is found to be quantitative in the higher range of acidity ( > 4 M). Synergismis observed with binary mixtures of 5% (v/v) MTOAC with 5% (v/v) TBP or 0.1 M DPSO, which increases with increase in acid concentration. Extraction of molybdenum(VI) with a mixture of 5% (v/v) MTOAC and 5% (v/v) Alamine 310 exhibits antagonism in the acid range 1-8 M. Extraction of this metal ion has also been studied with mixture of 5% MTOAC and 5% (v/v) Cyanex 301 from 0.1 -1 M HCI. The presence of chloride and thiocyanate ions enhance the extraction to an appreciable extent in acid medium.en_US
