Abstract: Surface and thermodynamic properties of micellization and adsorption at liquid/air interface for anionic surfactants, i.e., sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate (SDBS) in the presence of poly-N-vinyl-2-pyrroJidone (PVP) have been obtained using the surface tension data. The usual micellization process for the studied surfactants is preceded by the initial binding of surfactant molecules with the polymer. It has been found that micellization as well as adsorption of the surfactants at air/water interface in the presence of PVP is governed mainy by the entropy effect. The values of free energy of transfer of surfactants from aqueous solution to PVP + H2O solutions are also reported.
