| Abstract: | In the last several years, genetic algorithm has gained wide acceptance as a robust optimization algorithm in almost all areas of science and engineering, including polymer science. There are different stages in the production of polymers, starting from the design of molecules, through their manufacture in reactors, and finally ending with their processing. In each stage, genetic algorithm can be and has been used to determine optimum solutions. The application of genetic algorithm in obtaining the optimal solution for a copolymer with minimum band-gap and maximum delocalization is discussed. Quasi-one-dimensional model binary polymeric superlattices belonging to Type I and Type II-staggered have been investigated using genetic algorithm. |
