Abstract: FTIR and thermal desorption spectrafbtained after adsorption of CO + CO2 + H2 at different temperatures on Ru-RuOx/TiO2, a low temp rature methanation catalyst, are found to be the sum total of individual profiles obtained after CO + H2 and CO2 + H2 adsorption under identical conditions. The results provide an evidence that both CO and CO2 interact simultaneously and independent over catalyst surface and give rise to distinct surface species.
