Abstract: The sodium salt of 2,4,6-tris(1-hydroxy-4-sulpho-naphthyl-2-azo) pyrimidine gives a 1:1 pink coloured complex with indium (III) at pH 4.0-5.5 absorbing maximum at 560 nm. The Sandell's sensitivity of the colour reaction is 3.15 ng In(III) cm-2. In(III) has been determined in synthetic samples corresponding to mineral cylindrite and some indium alloys.
