dc.description.abstractAn effective, practical and simple approach towards the synthesis of 9-aryl-6-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-1,2,4-triazolo [4,3-a]-[1,8]naphthyridines 8 from the corresponding aryl aldehyde 3-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-1,8-naphthyridin-2-ylhydrazones 7 has been achieved, using Cu(OAc)2 in combination with microwave irradiation. The products are obtained in good yields and in a state of high purity. The structural assignments of compounds 3-8 are based on their elemental analyses and spectral (IR, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy) data. The compounds 8 have been screened for their antibacterial activity.en_US
