Abstract: Molybdenum hexacarbonyl reacts with 2,4-dimethylpyridine, 3-butylpyridine or 4-methylquinoline in refluxing acetonitrile to give the respective ligand complexes [Mo(CO)4(2,4-Me2Py)2], [Mo(CO)5(3-Bupy)] and [Mo(CO)5(4-methylquinoline)]. The complexes have been characterized by IR, PMR, mass spectra and elemental analysis.
