Some Sb(III) and Bi(III) complexes of benzothiazolines derived from heterocyclic aldehydes

Abstract

The reactions of a series of schiff base ligands, prepared by the condensation of <i>o</i>-aminothiophenol with heterocyclic aldehydes like furfuraldehyde, thiophene2-aldehyd, pyJidine-2-aldehyde and indole-3-carbaldehyd have been studied with Sb(III) and Bi(III) chlorides. The complexes formed are of the type SbCI₃ and BiCl₃.L (where L= RCHNHC₆H₄S-, R=C₄H₃O-, C₄H₃S-, C₅H₄N-, C₉H₇N-). These complexes have been characterized on the basis of eIemental analyses, molecular weight determinations, IR, NMR (¹H and ¹³C) and X-ray diffraction data.
