Abstract: A theoretical expression of the chemical reaction volume accompanying the dissociation of hydrogen and nitrogen in different solvents like water, benzene and carbon tetrachloride at infinite dilution is formulated by means of cavity distribution function and equation of state. The resulting reaction volumes are found to depend significantly on pressure. This reaction volume is a useful parameter for discussing the solvent effect on the chemical reaction from the view point of liquid structure.
