Abstract: The reduction of niobium chloride with aluminium or zinc in the presence of various ditertiary phosphines give biligate complexes of the type , while sodium amalgam reduction of NbCI5 give monoligate complexes of the type . The complex [Nb2CI8(dppe)4] on further treatment with Mo(CO)6 yielded heteronuclear bimetallic complex . The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectral studies.
