Title: A mass transfer study of the thermodynamics of o-iodoaniline and of the proton ionization of o-iodoanilinium ion

Abstract: The distribution coefficients of o-iodoaniline between a petroleum ether fraction and aqueous sodium chloride solutions have been determined at different temperatures. The activity coefficients of the amine in aqueous sodium chloride solutions, and the salting coefficients have been determined at different temperatures. The results conform with the Debye theory of salt effects. The effect of sodium chloride on the proton ionization of the o-iodoanilinium ion has been studied at different temperatures, by a modified distribution method. Attention is directed to the choice of the extracting solvent, the purity of the amine, and the analytical method. Km, Ko,(Kb)m, (Kb)o, G°, and values have been evaluated for the proton ionization of the o-iodoanilinium ion.
