Title: Epoxidation of olefines by using Mn(III) and Fe(III) amide complexes

Abstract: Mononuclear Mn(III) and Fe(III) complexes of diamide ligands formed by the reaction of methyl salicylate with triamines like diethylene triamine (DET) and dipropylene triamine (DPT) have been synthesised. These complexes have been characterised by elemental analysis, spectral, magnetic, FAB mass spectral and electrochemical studies. These complexes have been used as catalysts for the epoxidation of olefines like norbornene, cis-cyclooctene and cyclohexene, using mono-oxygen donor PhIO as the oxidant. The mechanism of catalytic reaction has been discussed on the basis of spectral and electrochemical studies.
